All kinds of drawings comprise curves, lines, and shapes. So, if you are wondering how to draw a smooth line or curve that fluctuates from light to dark, thin to thick, and subtle to bold — isn’t initially easy. What will help you to get perfect is “Practice”, the additional you draw; the more it will improve and get easy for you to learn the techniques
Quickie — While you are drawing and if you are left-handed, you can try placing a tissue under your hands. People who are lefties have the tendency to strain their hands through the paper and will only smudge the whole creative work that you’ve done.
Let’s start with the basics -
Drawing lines
If you are a beginner when it comes to drawing, you need to ensure that you have lots of steadiness in your hand. One needs to draw lots of straight lines which can be short and at times even long — the rule is that no scale is allowed. You need to practice freehand lines and it comes in handy when you are drawing a dress or hair and even proportional lines. There are different forms of lines, different lengths and widths, and dark and light lines. You can follow the below -
· Take your Kokuyo Camlin pencil and try drawing straight long lines without using any stationery
· Next, experiment and make lines that go from thin to thick and vice versa. Wondering how to do it? Simple — when you point your pencil downwards, it will give you thin lines and when you use the sides, you can see the line increasing in thickness
· Lines from Dark to light — when you use the pencil with ease, the lines created will be light and once you add a little pressure on it — you will have darker lines
· Practice and try and draw it more quickly — if this is difficult for you, then you can try and do the above variations while drawing shorter lines
· Try all this by using different grades of drawing pencils from Kokuyo Camlin
Drawing Curves
Curves are everywhere, in your body, in your hair, on your eyebrow and in everything possible. You would have come across many books where curves are already drawn and you have to practice making outlines on them, with this you might feel that you have done the best — but it won’t be the same when you start to draw the same thing on a blank piece of paper.
· Firstly, learn and be accurate in drawing straight lines and that will definitely help you to create curves with much ease. Try and practice different variations of curves which can be useful in making you a curvy expert!
· Create a curve from a tilted straight line
· Make lines as it looks like a mountain, you can add lines to get the shape you want in the end
· Smoothening straight lines
· As shown in the picture, those straight lines smooth out to get some curves. Carefully look into the detail and you will have a perfect curve
· If this seems to be a little difficult for you, then you can even try and draw long and short loops just like those shown in the picture
Note — always use Kukoyo Camlin’s H and HB drawing pencils which are light grade. People have the tendency to get into darker shades of pencils — 4B and others. Drawing a line and a curve with H and HB would be much better.
